Take time now to respond to the preached word.  Ask some questions:

  1. What are some lessons the writer of Hebrews teaches Christians through the example of the unfaithful Israelites in Exodus?
  2. Even Christians can be tempted with a hardened heart. Of the five stages (distracted, complacent, hurting, selfish and hardened) do you find yourself anywhere on that spectrum? If so, how does the gospel give you hope?
  3. Heb. 3:13 tells us to “exhort one another every day”. When we’re hurting, we don’t always reach out. Sometimes we need someone to reach in. Is there someone you know right now that needs encouraging in Christ? Pray for them, ask God to show you how to encourage that person, then get in touch with them.
