Cross of Grace exists to glorify God by making disciples through treasuring, living and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.
This is every living creature’s ultimate purpose on this earth. It’s why God made us—to glorify Him. What does that mean? It means that everything we are and everything we do should point to God—His worth, power, holiness, goodness, mercy and grace.
A disciple is one who follows. We follow Christ. But our walk is not just about us. Jesus commands us to “go and make disciples”. That means as we follow Christ, we also help others follow Christ.
We make disciples through:
Treasuring the Gospel
The “gospel” is the good news that Jesus saves sinners. The most valuable thing we have been given is salvation through Jesus Christ. The gospel is central in making disciples because Jesus is the only way of salvation. What we treasure identifies what we worship. That means our worship of God is fueled by the gospel. Nothing in life is more precious, more important, or more vital than Jesus.
Living the Gospel
Life is not contained to a Sunday gathering. Neither is the gospel. We want to live everyday life with the gospel central. Who Jesus is and what He has done for us transforms every relationship and every priority. Living the gospel produces a community of transformed people who reach out to other Christians and to those who don’t yet know Christ.
Proclaiming the Gospel
The Bible has one central message—God saves sinners. Since the gospel is a message, that message must be proclaimed. We make disciples by spreading the good news that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. We preach it on Sundays, teach it to our kids, and share it with our neighbors.
The Bottom Line
It’s all about Jesus. His life, His death, His resurrection, His rule, His glory, His gospel, and His grace.
